Labor Day Trip

The Thursday before Labor Day we set out a trip. Okay okay....before you freak out, we did NOT actually let Jack ride like this. We just thought it was fun. We drove from Indy to Nashville on Thursday night where we stayed in a hotel. Jack thought it was cool at this hotel because he got to take a bath in the kitchen sink (our room was a suite with a little kitchinette).
Friday morning we drove from Nashville to South Pittsburg, TN to Nana's house. She really enjoyed our visit and even bought us lunch from the Dixie Freeze. In case you've never been to South Pittsburg.....it's one of the only restaurants there and it's really good. It's also the place my mom and dad met! Oooo - historic!

From Nana's house, we drove to Chattanooga for the 2 main purposes of our trip. Friday night was Memaw's birthday party and Saturday was a baby shower for my cousin's new little boy, Brody! Jack was a big hit at Memaw's party with Memaw of course and with his big cousin, Jessah. Jessah is baby Brody's big sister. When Brody gets a little bigger, I do believe he is going to have a ton of fun.

Saturday after the baby shower, we drove to Murphy, NC to visit with Grandma and Grandpa and Grandma Dottie. We had a good visit with them. We got to go to church in Murphy on Sunday morning where they were having a pot luck (or "pitch in" as they say in Indy). After the meal, Chris, Jack, and I drove down to Helen, GA to meet up with our good friends Amos, Stacy, and Katie Mei who live in Athens, GA. We really enjoyed seeing them. After dinner, it was back to Murphy for one more night.

Monday morning we were off to Knoxville to Gram and Grandaddy's house. After a quick lunch with friends Steve and Heather, Chris left from there to head home and left me and Jack there for the week. This was a much needed break for me. It was nice to be at "home" although Jack didn't sleep very good. He was just too excited to be at Gram's house. She kept us very busy with shopping and playing. In Jack's mind there just wasn't time to sleep.....until Grandaddy got a hold of him!

Now, we've been back home for a week and have readjusted to life without grandparents constantly around. Jack misses his grandparents very much!
