Is it really Christmas?

Wow......2006 is flying by quickly. Today I realized that Christmas is in just 7 days. Wow! Usually we get really excited about Christmas in our house. We normally put the tree up right after thanksgiving and decorate with everything we have. We find some picture from the past year to use on a Christmas card and we mail out cards to everyone we know. We sometimes even write a letter. I usually make a bunch of Christmas goodies to give to our neighbors and other friends. We usually listen to Christmas music non-stop during the month of December. And, it's usually cold outside.

However........this year is very different. We've been working on that major remodeling project in our house since Thanksgiving and Christmas has just kind of slipped to the wayside. Don't worry we have bought all our Christmas presents for everyone. They are wrapped, but they are NOT under the tree. Why? We don't have a tree. There literally has been no chance to put the tree up. And, we're going to be traveling for Christmas anyways, so it just wasn't the priority that it's been in the past. Did you get our Christmas card yet? Oh yeah.......you probably didn't. Why? We haven't made one. This wasn't something we forgot; it was actually a conscious decision. You see in February we figure that we'll send out a mass mailing to all the same people who would normally get a Christmas card from us with a picture of the new baby. So, we decided everyone could wait 2 months to hear from us this year! Christmas goodies? Nope....none of those this year. Why? I've been pretty sick the past few days with a major cough which all came to a breaking point for me this morning when I called in sick to work. My doctor called me in some medicine, so hopefully I'm on the mend for the holidays. Christmas music.......we did start listening to that the other day when we finally managed to break out the CDs that have been hiding for the past year. The weather.....it's 70 plus degrees here.

So, we've been asking ourselves, "is it really Christmas?" But, we know it is. It isn't about all the silly things we make it into. So, we must say that we are very excited to be leaving on Friday to go see Jill's family and then on to Chris's family next week. We're looking forward to being out of our non-Christmas house for a few days. And, our remodeling is ALMOST finished! Hopefully we'll have pictures soon!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
